Last Saturday and Sunday, my best friend and i went on a camping trip with with some friends. it was held in subic, in the Jungle Environment Survival Training camp or JEST for short. it was the second time for my best friend and i to go here, and we learned from our mistakes last time. this time, we didnt wear our combat boots, which really hurt but are very effective, we brought less clothes, because it just made our bags heavy. we also didnt bring a tent anymore, since last time, we just had a problem carrying it around. we didnt wear our fatigues like the last cause they were hot, so we just wore shorts (which i regret). i might still wear the lower part of my fatigues the next time we go there.the whole experience was fun. we hiked up and down a few, short mountains, learned how to make a fire with just a bolo and bamboo, cook food in bamboo, and look for water in the trees. we also learned what plants can be helpful and dangerous to us. finally, our instructor, taught us how to make traps from things that can be found in the jungle, that can be used on both animals and people.
the camping trip was a time for bonding and reflection. my best friend and i were able to talk about somethings that needed to be discussed thoroughly. we were able to come to a decision on some of these topics, despite the fact that someone was listening in while pretending he was asleep.it wasnt really a problem because we i was having too much fun. in the jungle i could forget about my problems and just focus at the moment that i am in. too bad.
anyway you cant go to the jungle and not get hurt. here rarely see each other and he did give some advice.
i really didnt want to leave the campsite because you can really forget about all your problems. you just thing about that moment that you are in right there and then.
ofcourse, you cant go to the jungle and not get hurt. here are some injuries due to my foolishness.
i hope these wounds heal...
